About Us

The Yale Divinity School Student Government (YDSG) acts as a liaison between Yale Divinity School Students and the Yale Divinity School Administration. Responsibilities include convening a monthly meeting of all Student Group Leaders and elected representatives to the YDSG, working with the Dean on issues that impact the YDS Community, and publicly addressing issues of concern or interest as they arise through community conversations.

Purpose

The purpose of Student Government shall be the following:

To act as the legislative assembly of the student body of Yale Divinity School (the "Divinity School" or "YDS").

To act on behalf of the students and their interests on issues of YDS policy and community concern.

To serve as the representative of the student body before the faculty and administration of Yale Divinity.

To advocate for the interests of YDS students within the broader Yale University community.

Dear Theo...

Managed by the YDSG President, Dear Theo is an open letter system available to current YDS students. This allows students the opportunity to pen community letters when they feel particularly unheard or if they want to share something joyful with the community! We want to co-create a space with Dear Theo where it can be the beginning of some tough conversations we need to reckon with and a respite of joy in what can be a very busy school year.

Dear Theo is an internal communications initiative, and so is only sent out to current members of the YDS community. Considering Dear Theo's purpose of encouraging open dialogue within the community, we encourage students to sign the letters they send through this platform. Where the benefits of anonymity outweigh those of exposure, anonymous letters, in consultation with the President and/or Executive Council will be dutifully considered.

Dear Theo submissions can be sent to dear.theo@yale.edu
