The Swap Room

What is the Swap Room?

The swap room is a space located in the basement of Whitehall Apartments (533 Prospect St) where you can donate and/or adopt gently used clothing and other small household items. Open only to Yale Graduate Housing residents, it has been in operation since 2010 and has grown since then into a thriving center for recycling and exchange of household items from Graduate Housing residences.

What items does the Swap Room have?

  • Clothing and shoes (infants/toddlers and adults)
  • Kitchen utensils
  • Electronics
  • Small furnishings
  • Toys
  • Books
  • Strollers
The swap room does NOT accept:
  • Food
  • Large furniture
  • Bedding
  • Broken or expired items

When and how can visit the Swap Room?
Due to COVID-19, the swap room is open by appointment only between 7-9pm Thursdays and 9-10:40am Saturdays. Please visit https://swaproom.youcanbook.me/ to make an appointment, or click the link below. Up to three people may schedule to visit at a time.

To donate items you do not need an appointment. During open hours there will be a basket labeled "Swap Room Donations" outside the swap room. Please leave your donation there. If your donation does not fit, it is likely too large for the swap room. If you have questions, please contact the swap room coordinators ahead of time at swaproom.whitehall@gmail.com.
