Did you know that in the US ~40% of food is wasted while 1/8 people are food insecure? If this sounds terrible to you, that's because it is. Dumpster-dive into the world of food waste with Lise De Maere (SOM '24). She will give you a "food waste 101" overview and talk about how big retailers are thinking about food waste based on her internship experience at Albertsons, one of the biggest US retailers. How big is the problem really? Who is responsible? What are retailers doing, and what is preventing them from doing more? Come to learn about some of the trends in the space, and to join a conversation about our food system.

As always, lunch will be provided.
Organized and sponsored by CBEY, YSE Business & Environment Learning Community & SOM Business & Environment club.
*We are committed to reducing waste at our event. Therefore, we ask that when you register, you commit to doing your best to attend.
