Salutations Democrats,
We hope you had a fantastic return from Spring Break! Read on for some great programming and opportunities, including some positions for the Biden campaign that just opened up. Additionally, if you live in Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, Delaware, or Wisconsin, Tuesday is election day for the Presidential Primary! If you haven't already voted early, we hope you head out to the polls to make your voice heard.

YLDems Presidential Election 2024-25
The form to cast your vote for the 2024-25 YLDems President is now open. To review candidate materials and cast your vote, please use this Google Form. The deadline to vote is this Wednesday, April 3rd at 5PM. If you would like to vote for a write-in candidate, you are welcome to do that. Your vote will be counted so long as the write-in option is eligible for the position in accordance with our bylaws. As per the bylaws, the winner will be determined by a plurality vote of our eligible members, as defined this year as any law student who was listed as a member on YaleConnect by March 26th at 5PM.

Vanita Gupta served as the 19th United States Associate Attorney General, the third-ranking official at the Department of Justice, from 2021 to 2024. Associate Attorney General Gupta supervised the Department’s civil litigating divisions—the Civil Division, Civil Rights Division, Antitrust Division, Tax Division, and Environment and Natural Resources Division, the Department’s grantmaking components—the Office of Justice Programs, Office on Violence Against Women, and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), as well as the Office for Access to Justice, Office of Information Policy, the Community Relations Service, the United States Trustees Program, and the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission.

Ben Schneer is an Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. His research is in American politics and focuses primarily on political representation: how citizens express their preferences, how government responds to them, and what may shape and distort these processes. Recent work has studied questions such as just how much of an effect the media has on the national political conversation, how to devise fairer methods for redistricting, and the role that petitioning has played in American political development.

The Voter Protection and Access program will focus on election administration and opportunities to enhance voting access prior to Election Day, as well as a robust voter education and protection operation during the voting period.
