Are you an international student or scholar who would like to spend this Thanksgiving with a host family? Do you plan to stay in town for the last week of November and but don't want to miss out on this unique American tradition? OISS has just the event for you!

Thanksgiving at Home is one of our favorite traditions, and a great opportunity to experience an American holiday with a local family. Our hosts come from a variety of backgrounds in the Yale community, each with their own set of family traditions.

We do our best to place as many students and scholars as possible, but we cannot guarantee your space until you have been matched with a host, and until you confirm your attendance with us (details to follow).

By registering for this program, you must be available all day on Thursday, November 27th to be eligible to be placed with a family. Please only sign-up if you are positive that you will be here and can attend. You will be contacted no later than Monday, November 17th to confirm that you have been matched with a host family, and further details will be shared at that time.

PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING:

• This program is only open to Yale international students and scholars, and if possible, and their spouses and children.
• While we do our best to place friends together, we cannot guarantee that it is possible.
• Please note that every individual must register separately for the program. If you are a family, please register everyone individually (including children). In the registration there will be a place for you to indicate who you would like to be placed with (for friends and family), and the OISS will be in touch for arrangement; again, we try our best but that's not always possible.
• While this program is free, some of our hosts live outside of New Haven and might require you to take a train or share an Uber/Lyft to get to their house. When registering, please keep in mind there might be a cost associated with transportation to get to/from your host's home, but we do our best to keep costs minimal.
• We also ask that each family unit or individual participant (whichever applies) bring a dish to share with the host family on the day of event.
• If you are registering with children, please keep in mind that our host families aren't always able to take an entire family for the holiday, but we will do our best to find a place for you.
• If you are registering for this program (Thanksgiving at Home), please refrain from also registering for International Friendsgiving 2025.
