Have you ever found yourself following a heated conversation among friends or colleagues, and were left wondering "what the big deal is"? Or do you sometimes feel lost when it comes to the "dos and don'ts" of social interactions on campus?

In this interactive workshop, you will learn strategies that can help you maneuver American social justice discourse, and life in a diverse community. You will gain insights on what some sensitive topics are on and beyond campus; how to ask questions when you don't understand; what to do when you may have offended someone; and how to advocate for yourself and others.

This workshop will be led by Vanessa Bittner (she/her), OISS' previous Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives Fellow. Vanessa is an international student herself and is a 6th year PhD student studying Sociology. She is looking forward to having an open and honest conversation about the challenges of navigating unfamiliar discourse.

Space is limited for this event and a light dinner will be served. Registration is required.
