We are excited to invite Diego Faria and Samuel Rodriguez from ¡Oye!, Yale’s first and only Latin spoken word and poetry group to give us a short performance and a brief sharing of how to create a poem.
- Diego Faria, a Junior at Stiles pursuing a B.S. in Psychology and a certificate in Statistics & Data Science. He is also Venezuelan and a transfer student from the Honors College at Miami Dade College, where he cemented his love for poetry in Spanish. He loves writing about a variety of topics like love, nature, imaginary spaces, and others. You can read some of his poetry in an award-winning magazine, Urbana, in the XV and XVI volumes.
- Samuel Rodriguez, an undergraduate freshman hoping to major in Comparative Literature. Born in Colombia and now living in New Jersey, Sam loves to express himself through writing, whether it is a poem or a short story. He greatly admires writers who can capture their feelings with words. Some of his influences are Juan Luis Borges, James Baldwin, Emily Dickinson, Hideaki Anno, and the king, Gabriel García Márque.
The night will also include classic music, chocolates, cupcakes, and roses! Come and enjoy a poetic night filled with love!
