Join us for an inspiring evening as we screen "Rule Breakers," a film that explores the transformative power of education in a country where teaching girls is considered a rebellious act. Follow the journey of a bold woman who, against all odds, educates young minds to think and dream. The film highlights their groundbreaking innovations in robotics that capture global attention, challenge societal norms, and incite both hope and opposition. As they face looming threats and make profound sacrifices, their unwavering courage sparks a movement poised to change the world forever.

Panelists:
  • Roya Mahboob - Founder of the FIRST Global Team Afghanistan (Women's Robotics team)
  • Laura Overdeck - Producer
  • Alaha Mahboob - Writer
  • Matt Stalford - Director of Communications, FIRST Global
  • Stephanie Sleczcyki - Team Director, FIRST Global

Yale is connected in many ways with Roya and her team. The panel discussion will explore many of these connections.

This event is being co-sponsored by Yale Engineering, Yale's Office of International Students & Scholars, and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

Light food will be provided.
