Game Night: Around the World in Idioms & Slang!

How do you trick a ghost into eating tofu? What does it mean to be touching fish at work? And who came up with the phrase throwing someone under the bus anyway?

Idioms and slangs are often contextually specific and culturally esoteric, and they don't lend themselves to literal translation.

OISS is inviting you to a community-contributed game night where we discover cultures, languages and history! After registration on Yale Connect, we will reach out via WhatsApp to collect the slangs and idioms you want to share, we will then collate them for our game night!

Get ready to:

• Guess the meaning of absurd-sounding English literal translation of regional idioms and slangs
• Learn about the culture, history and wisdom embedded in each of the shared phrase
• Make new friends over competitive game session
• Contribute and make the night fun for all

OISS will provide limited refreshments on a first come, first served basis.
