OISS Town Hall Webinar: Elimination of Duration of Status

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security published a final rule that would eliminate the current “duration of status” (D/S) policy for F and J nonimmigrants. The rule’s effective date is September 15, 2026; it is not effective immediately. We understand this is a significant transition for many of you and your families, and you may have questions. Fortunately, we have some time to provide guidance and assist you in planning.

Please join us for us for a Town Hall where we will review what we know, what it may mean for F & J students and scholars, and how OISS can support you. 

You are highly recommended to provide any questions you have as you register for this session. We will consolidate all responses and try to address as many questions and concerns as possible. 

This session will take place on Zoom, and registered participants will receive a confirmation email with the link to the webinar. While this session will be hosted on the Zoom platform, it will be a webinar and not a Zoom call. Participants will not be visible to other participants.
