In December, we are reading Helen of Nowhere by Makenna Goodman, a philosophically adventurous modern satire longlisted for the 2026 Booker Prize that follows a disgraced professor trying to buy an idyllic country home, only to become entangled in the haunting legacy of its mysterious former owner.
