What makes a “good student”? How do the grades that students receive reflect our values as individuals, as a community, and as a society? Are grades even necessary, and what purposes do they actually serve? Join us for this four-part learning community on Zoom on grading practice. We’ll unpack the norms that underlie grading, discuss the alignment between grading practices and learning objectives, and consider alternative grading systems, including ungrading and contract grading. Please contact Richard Li (richard.li.rl839@yale.edu) and Will Johnson (will.johnson@yale.edu) for more information.
