Join us for an in-person workshop on how to engage students in class. We will cover tools and strategies that help students connect to the class and stay motivated. We will focus on creating community through inclusive practices, structuring class sessions to maximize engagement, and getting frequent feedback to understand what students are learning. Along the way, we'll model active learning practices, giving you engagement strategies that you can use in your classroom.

This will be a 2-hour long session.

This session will begin with a 30-minute information session with representatives from Local 33. Local 33 - UNITE HERE is the union of graduate teachers and researchers at Yale. Last year, graduate workers ratified our first union contract, which includes historic pay increases, new rights around time off, new protections for immigrant and international workers, more comprehensive health care benefits, and much more! This session will provide an overview of why we have a graduate union at Yale, our rights under the contract, the benefits of membership, and how to get involved with Local 33.
