Are you seeking to cultivate a classroom environment that fosters equity and support, actively addressing and challenging forms of exclusion in academia? Are you hoping to design lesson plans, assignments, and activities that are accessible, inclusive, equitable and meet the diverse needs of students? In this four-part series, we will learn to apply evidence-based equitable teaching strategies, (including Universal Design for Learning), discuss how to create compassionate learning spaces, and engage with tools for equitable and transparent assessment. We will explore strategies for navigating power structures in the classroom, become familiar with scholarship on equitable teaching, and discuss how we can design classrooms that are mindful of and counteract broader structures of oppression. Participation in at least three of these sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). For more information, please contact Destiny Treloar (destiny.treloar@yale.edu) and Niv Karthikeyan (niv.karthikeyan@yale.edu).
