Assessment shapes learning, but can feel particularly daunting within today’s educational climate. How can you implement grading and rubrics in ways that are clear, fair, and actually support student learning (without overwhelming you)? This workshop is designed to focus on the traditional A–F grading system and examine the role rubrics play as one of the tools that can be used to increase transparency and consistency within this system. This workshop will equip you to think critically about the practice of grading, evaluate effective rubrics and some of their pitfalls, and design your own rubric for use in your field. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Ulas Berk Karli (ulasberk.karli@yale.edu) and Michelle Keefe (michelle.keefe@yale.edu).
