[New Date] ITW: Cultivating STEM Skill Sets through Art and Artifacts

Are you looking for innovative ways to encourage STEM students to develop their critical thinking, acknowledge multiple perspectives, and enhance their communication skills? Research shows that engagement with the arts and special collections can do all that and more for students in STEM. In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn more about the cognitive benefits of working with objects in the STEM classroom, and explore how special collections activities can build critically important skills. You’ll walk away with an assignment or activity that you can implement in your own classroom – or show off for the job market! This workshop will be held in person at the Yale University Art Gallery, and it will be facilitated by Danielle Raad (YUAG), Cullman-Payson Postdoctoral Fellow in Academic Affairs and Outreach and Gina Marie Hurley (Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning), Associate Director of Graduate and Postdoctoral Teaching Development.
