Whether in the hard sciences, the humanities, or the social sciences, writing is the primary way that scholars create new knowledge and communicate their ideas. Yet modes of writing can vary widely between different disciplines. In this workshop, we will offer our participants strategies for helping students understand the standards and norms of writing within their field by incorporating regular writing practice into their lesson plans and making assessment an opportunity for growth. We'll also discuss ways that other parts of classes and sections can become an occasion to examine good writing. For more information, contact jeffrey.fisk@yale.edu and benjamin.pokross@yale.edu.
