This series provides dissertation writers with the structure, resources, and creative outlets to design and maintain a sustainable approach to writing. We will explore effective practices for pacing your dissertation writing while helping you overcome common writing blocks and find balance in your writing life. During each weekly live workshop session, we will engage with a relevant theme, discuss your writing practice and progress, and complete low-stakes reflective and creative activities to build your writing momentum. Invigorated by poetry, art, and other creative inspirations, and supported through discussion boards and supplementary resources, we will help you craft a writing practice to help you maintain, and even enjoy, a PhD writing life.

As part of the resources offered in this series, students will receive access to tutorials on how to try Scrivener, a software program for organizing writing and brainstorming. Students who attend at least four of the six sessions will receive a free, lifetime Scrivener license.

The weekly session themes are:

1. Time Management and Dissertation Planning (10/27)
2. Crafting a Holistic Dissertation Writing Practice (11/3)
3. Working through Distractions and Procrastination (11/10)
4. Writing through Imposter Stress (11/17)
5. Hanging up on Perfectionism and Demoralization (12/1)
6. Assessing Process & Progress + Long-View Spring Semester Planning (12/8)

Intended Audience: ABD PhD students from all disciplines who have begun writing their dissertation.
