Join us to celebrate 30 years of RebLaw! The 2024 Rebellious Lawyering Conference will be held at Yale Law School on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

For 30 years, RebLaw has brought together practitioners, students, and activists from around the country to discuss innovative, progressive approaches to social justice. The conference, firmly rooted in the spirit of Gerald López’s Rebellious Lawyering, seeks to build a community dedicated to challenging the hierarchies of race, wealth, gender, and expertise within legal practice, organizing spaces, and academia. RebLaw has influenced an entire generation of attorneys, civil rights leaders, social justice activists, and educators in service of liberation movements.

This year’s conference will include keynotes by Azadeh Shahshahani, the legal and advocacy director at Project South and former president of the National Lawyers Guild, and Bree Newsome in conversation with Professor Monica Bell. Newsome is an activist, filmmaker, and musician who generated national attention in 2015 when she climbed the flagpole at the South Carolina State Capitol and removed the Confederate flag.

RebLaw will also bring 15+ visionaries to campus for panels and interactive workshops, including Dee Farmer (the first transgender plaintiff to bring a case before SCOTUS (Farmer v. Brennan) and Executive Director of Fight4Justice), D Dangaran (Director of Gender Justice at Rights Behind Bars), and Anthony Prince (Lead Organizer and General Counsel for the National Union of the Homeless). The conference program and schedule is available at reblaw.yale.edu.

Yale Law School is wheelchair accessible. Lunch and light breakfast will be served, and we will close out the event with a community happy hour. Please note any dietary restrictions or accessibility needs when when registering for the conference, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
