Mission

Our mission is to create the next generation of AI leaders at Yale.

The inaugural Yale Frontiers in AI Leadership Conference will bring together experts in research, industry and governance to connect Yale students with the bleeding edge future of AI capabilities and development.

Panel #1: Nations and War

The 1940s saw the beginning of the nuclear arms race, and we live in a time that may be defined by a similar race – for AI. The ongoing global AI race will have profound impacts on the safeguards we develop to harness this technology, and the applications of AI in warfare we will allow. The zealousness of private corporations and rich governments to develop AI will transform the world for better, but must be tempered with caution. We convene this panel to discuss two major questions: how does AI policy match the pace of AI development, and how do we set standards for the deployment of AI in warfare?

Panel #2: Data, Privacy, & Humanity

Artificial Intelligence is an emerging technology, and as powerful models become ubiquitous, industry specific applications will soon become the new holy grail of advancement. This implementation faces two major roadblocks: data privacy and intellectual property. In healthcare, preserving the sanctity of patient data is of imperative importance. In creative industries, preserving the ownership of copyrighted materials is crucial. As AI begins to look more and more like humans, we must focus not only on cognitive capacities, but moral capacities. We convene this panel to discuss the most pressing questions of the future: how do we value data in today’s society, and how do we develop AI that can respect our morals?
