Visual Literacy: AI in Context

AI-generated images are everywhere—whether we are aware of them or not. In this 30-minute workshop, take a closer look at the history of AI generated art and images. We will discuss how concerns of privacy, ownership, and consent are brought to the surface through new AI technology and come away with a better understanding of how to engage with visual images in an age where the line between image and reality is blurred.

Attendees will learn how to: 

1. Analyze examples of AI-generated images to recognize issues of authorship, consent, and privacy raised by contemporary visual technologies.

2. Evaluate strategies for critically engaging with digital images in contexts where distinctions between human-made and AI-generated content are increasingly ambiguous.

Audience: All members of the Yale community are welcome to attend.
