Degree Audits
Degree audits are available for students in the MDiv and comprehensive MAR degree programs through the Yale Degree Audit platform accessible through the Yale Hub. The degree audit is accessible to both the student and the academic adviser and maps the degree requirements already completed as well as those requirements yet to be fulfilled. Questions about the audit or about degree requirements should be directed to the Registrar. MAR and MDiv degree worksheets are also available to help students track degree progress.
Students in the concentrated MAR degrees should track their degree progress with their adviser using the appropriate course planning sheet. A completed copy of this course plan, signed by the advisor, must be submitted to the Registrar before the last day of the student’s final semester.
Veteran Benefits Certification
The Registrar is the VA School Certifying Official for Yale Divinity School. If you are eligible for educational benefits under any of the chapters of the GI Bill®, please come and speak with us. We will need your Certificate of Eligibility from the VA and a copy of your DD214, and will need to know under which chapter you are requesting benefits. For more information regarding VA education benefits, or for questions specific to your eligibility, please visit the VA’s GI Bill® website. For information about Yale University’s participation in the Yellow Ribbon program, please visit the University’s Financial Aid website here.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
Enrollment Verification
The Registrar’s Office can provide verification of your enrollment, degree program, graduation date, academic standing, and tuition/fees paid. The typical verification consists of a letter with signature and seal indicating your degree program, enrollment status (e.g. full-time, part-time), and anticipated date of graduation. Sometimes, however, the party requesting the verification requires more or different information or completion of a form or series of forms. Before making your request for enrollment verification, please determine what information is needed and in what format. If the third party needs a particular form to be completed and returned, you will need to submit a copy of that form with your request.
Email requests are acceptable for most forms of verification. However, for your privacy protection, verification requests including confidential academic information (e.g. “in good standing”) must include your signature. If you choose to scan and attach your signature to an email, the email must be sent from your yale.edu account. Please note that we cannot verify your enrollment status for a given semester until the registration period for that semester has ended.
You may fax your request to (203) 432-7475 or email the registrar at jamie.tan@yale.edu. Please allow 3 days for your request to be processed. Please note that during very busy times of the year (especially at the beginning of the academic term) your request may take longer to process.
Loan Deferments
Students may defer their educational loans, provided they are registered at least half-time (6 credit hours) per semester. Each lending institution initiates the deferment process by sending forms directly to the student. After filling out the necessary parts of the form and signing, the student may bring the form to the Registrar’s Office for processing. Please note that the form will not be processed until after the last day of on-line registration for the Fall semester as noted in the YDS academic calendar.
Yale University uses the services of the National Student Clearinghouse, which means that information is sent electronically at least three times during the semester for currently enrolled students to lenders who participate in this service. Information on the Clearinghouse may be found at http://www.studentclearinghouse.org. You may check to see if your lender is a participant or track your deferment online. If your lender is not a participant, you will need to get the appropriate deferment form from your lender.
