Y-SMAB brings traditional, African marimba and percussion to Yale, to properly demonstrate where the marimba originated, the power of its music, and the community it can bring together when played joyfully in groups.
Y-SMAB brings traditional, African marimba and percussion to Yale, to properly demonstrate where the marimba originated, the power of its music, and the community it can bring together when played joyfully in groups.
At the core of the Yale Marimband is the belief that music and community should be accessible and open to all! We are a no audition based group, and our purpose is to enjoy meeting new people and having a stress-free place to create fun and beautiful music.
We practice once a week for 1.5 hours, we have fun together, and we hold 2-3 performances a semester.
