The Africa SIG is a group of engaged students interested in the environmental challenges and opportunities on the continent. The purpose of Africa SIG is two-fold: (1) to serve as a forum for information exchange and research support for members; (2) to create opportunities on campus to engage with the vibrant culture of Africa. The SIG hosts and co-sponsors talks with scholars and practitioners, movie screenings, and cultural experiences to share the colourful traditions that have existed for centuries in Africa.

students and postdocs. ‘B.l.a.c.k.’ stands for BIPOC Leadership Alliance for Culture and Knowledge. The“et al.” symbolizes the myriad ways BIPOC students show up at YSE beyond their commitments as
students. This organization is founded on the principles of well-being, scholarship, service, fellowship and belonging.

The Center for Green Chemistry & Green Engineering at Yale is addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges at the nexus of resource issues. Green Chemistry and Green Engineering represent the fundamental building blocks of sustainability and our chemists and engineers are creating the scientific and technological break-throughs that will be crucial to the future success of the human economy. The Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale works to stimulate and accelerate these advances. It is our mission to advance sustainability by catalyzing the effectiveness of the Green Chemistry and Green Engineering community. The ConBio SIG at YSE is a dynamic community of graduate students from diverse academic backgrounds who share a common passion for conservation of wildlife and natural spaces. The goal of the ConBio SIG is to provide students with a space to come together to share personal experiences and insights about conservation biology. We encourage participation from all specializations and collaborate across disciplines!

The ConBio SIG fosters a supportive environment that fosters academic growth through guest lectures and workshops as well as professional and social development through quarterly socials with conservation and research professionals. DocComm is the branch of the Student Affairs Committee comprised of and representing the doctoral (graduate and postdoctoral students) community:

1. Mission: The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) is an elected body of active students at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES). SAC is dedicated to facilitating communication and understanding among the F&ES student body, administration, and staff; advocating on behalf of the student body on pressing issues; supporting student interest groups and executing a limited number of official duties.
2. Principles: SAC is designed to be a cooperative, non-hierarchical, transparent, and nimble body. SAC will not discriminate based on age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, political orientation, or physical abilities, and will actively strive to combat discrimination in all its forms. SAC strives to include the interest of the F&ES community including current students, administration, staff, alumni, and the broader Yale and New Haven communities.

The Yale School of the Environment Energy Student Interest Group works on a variety of fronts to increase opportunities and knowledge of the energy sector at Yale. Our activities include hosting guest speakers, running workshops, organizing field trips, and providing networking opportunities for students focused on the nexus between energy and the environment. In addition, we work closely alongside faculty to expand the number of energy-focused course offerings at YSE and to bring in experienced industry professionals as guest lecturers.

Some of our past events include a visit from Jeff Semancik, Director of Radiation at DEEP, to talk about nuclear; a series of chats with ├ÿrsted on wind; and a visit to Yale's power plant.
