The Past, Present, and Future of Muslim Cool:
A Tenth Anniversary Celebration

Monday, April 20, 2026 | 5:30–7:30 p.m. | Dinner to follow
Sterling Memorial Library Lecture Hall, Yale University, New Haven, CT

(Accessible from 301 York Street, or the Sterling Memorial Library entrance on Cross Campus)

By centering Black Muslim creativity, Muslim Cool fundamentally shifted how we study race, religion, and culture in America. A decade on — what do its insights mean for our moment?

Join us for an evening of reflection, conversation, and celebration marking the tenth anniversary of Dr. Su'ad Abdul Khabeer's landmark book. Scholars and thinkers will gather to examine its enduring influence — across classrooms, communities, and fields of inquiry — and explore the questions it continues to open.

Featuring:

  • Su'ad Abdul Khabeer (Author & Yale ISM Fellow; Michigan University)
  • Kayla Wheeler (Xavier University)
  • Hisham Aidi (Columbia University)
  • Todne Thomas (Yale Divinity School)
  • Zareena Grewal (Yale University)
  • Omar Offendum (MC/Poet)
Copies of Muslim Cool will be available for sale courtesy of Possible Futures bookspace.

Sponsored by the Muslim Leadership Lab at the Dwight Hall Center for Social Justice and Public Service and the Muslim Life Program at the Yale Chaplain's Office.
