WHEN: Tuesday, September 17
WHERE: Columbus House (586 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven, CT 06519)
National Voter Registration Day will be on Tuesday, September 17 - come volunteer on this day, anytime between 9am-2pm or 4-8pm, at Columbus House in New Haven, as housing-insecure residents register for voting. Your role can involve a variety of tasks, including helping clients find out if they are already registered, clarifying information about the registration form, assisting in technical support with computers, and greeting all who attend with a warm smile! Basic training and information will be provided by Columbus House staff who will also be on site. This work is critical in ensuring that ALL eligible voters are registered to vote. You may have some downtime, so feel free to bring a laptop/iPad/book.
Please wear close-toed shoes, dress respectfully, and do not have any visible party-affiliated or political stickers/messaging on clothing or personal items. Neutrality is vital for voter registration activities.
You will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement on site prior to volunteering and adhere to Columbus House organization policies on site for safety of guests.
Masking is encouraged. Masks will be available if you do not have your own.
Spanish speaking volunteers are especially needed!
VOLUNTEER TIMES: There will be two shifts on September 17 that you can volunteer during: 9am-2pm and 4-8pm. You must stay for a minimum of 1.5 hours (2 including travel) - please arrive no later than 7pm.
TRANSPORTATION: Free bus passes will be provided to all those who register to volunteer on YaleConnect!
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Sunday, September 15, at 9pm EST
