Learning Community: Antiracist and Decolonial Pedagogies (4 Sessions)

What does an intentionally antiracist classroom look like? How can I decolonize my assessments and syllabi? In what ways do antiracist and decolonial teaching practices converge—or diverge? The purpose of this learning community is to convene a space for instructors from across the disciplines interested in or committed to anti-racist and decolonial pedagogies to explore how those commitments might shape core features of their teaching, from course and syllabus design to assessment and classroom facilitation. Through readings and group discussions, participants will become familiar with key texts in antiracist and decolonial pedagogy and will be able to critically engage with contemporary experiments in implementing antiracist and decolonial pedagogies in their discipline and beyond. This group will be facilitated by Delfina Gonzalez (delfina.gonzalez@yale.edu) and Joy Wang (joy.wang@yale.edu), and will meet in person on Wednesdays 3/1, 3/8, 3/29, and 4/5 from 3:30-5PM.

This group counts as a learning community for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation, and all graduate/professional students and postdoctoral fellows are welcome to join.
