The Faculty in Conversation Series: Antiracist Pedagogy brings together faculty to listen, reflect, and exchange ideas. Each session features a Yale instructor who incorporates antiracist practices into their teaching and whose work is highlighted on the Poorvu Center antiracist pedagogy webpage. In the first event this fall, Professor in the Practice of Stage Management Narda E. Alcorn of Yale's David Geffen School of Drama will be in conversation with her colleague and co-author, Professor Lisa Porter of Theater and Dance at UCSD. They will share their commitment to antiracist education in their discipline, stage management and how their approach can be applied to other disciplines. They will also discuss how they consider their identities and perspectives - Narda as a Black woman and Lisa as a White woman - to engage their students in candid conversations about race. Participants will have opportunities to ask questions and reflect on how the practices translate to their classrooms. The session will be conducted over Zoom and capped at 40 with a waitlist if there are more registrants than can be accommodated.
