Agenda
Past Events
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
In this advanced workshop, we will build from the concepts discussed in the ITW (April 1st, 5-6:30PM). We will continue to explore ways to reform the structures within our learning environments to better support learners with seen and unseen disabilities, integrating these ideas with an exploration of disability pedagogies which actively work to reject ableism and transform the way disability is conceptualized in institutional settings. Participants will consider concrete ways of incorporating these concepts in syllabi, assessments, and course planning. We hope to initiate a larger discussion of disability pedagogy and its implications for greater pedagogical improvement. If you have any questions, please contact Delfina González (delfina.gonzalez@yale.edu) or Audrey Holt (audrey.holt@yale.edu).
This workshop series will be held in person.
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
In this introductory workshop, we will start by working together to understand different definitions of disability and how they manifest in the university while considering how disability can affect student and instructor teaching and learning. We will also give an overview of Yale’s institutional resources and structures and open an initial conversation about how we can improve our teaching practices and materials beyond these established structures. This initial grounding will prepare us to delve deeper into the theory and practice of disability pedagogy in the ATW: “Advanced Topics in Disability in the Classroom” which will be held the following week on April 8th from 5:00-6:30PM. If you plan to attend the ATW without attending this ITW or if you have any other questions, please contact Delfina González (delfina.gonzalez@yale.edu) or Audrey Holt (audrey.holt@yale.edu).
This workshop series will be held in person.
