5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
ATW: Becoming an anti-racist educator looks different for everyone based on their identity, power, privilege, and discipline. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their scholarly fields and consider the relationship of their field to race, power, and privilege in the academy, including how these relationships affect how they teach and assess their students. Participants will brainstorm concrete skills and tools to create anti-racist learning environments and will leave the workshop with long-term and short-term goals for implementing anti-racist pedagogy in their field. This workshop builds off of the ITW: Delving into Anti-Racist Pedagogy. Participants are encouraged to attend both workshops as they complement each other. For more information, please contact Mallory Ellingson (Mallory.ellingson@yale.edu) or Katherine Ponds (Katherine.ponds@yale.edu).
This workshop will be held in-person.
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
ITW: In this course we will survey current anti-racist pedagogical approaches, terms, and theories. Where did they come from? How are they being implemented across the world? Participants will learn the foundations of what it means to set up a learning environment with anti-racist pedagogy in mind. This ITW is designed to prepare participants for a deeper introspection in the ATW: Practicing Anti-racist pedagogy. For more information, or if you plan to attend the ATW without attending this ITW, please contact Mallory Ellingson (Mallory.ellingson@yale.edu) or Katherine Ponds (Katherine.ponds@yale.edu).
