To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Poorvu Center, we are hosting a celebration of excellent and innovative teaching at Yale. After opening remarks from the 23rd Yale President and Chris Argyris Professor of Psychology, Peter Salovey, a faculty panel will reflect together on how teaching has changed at Yale over the past ten years, using examples from innovations and adjustments they have made in their own classrooms, how they have supported others in their teaching, and the resources they have tapped into to do so—at the Poorvu Center and beyond. The panel will include Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of for Simulation and Clinical Innovation at the School of Nursing Christine Rodriguez, Associate Professor of English Ben Glaser, Nathan Jacobson Senior Lecturer II of Math Miki Havlickova, and Professor of Ethnicity Race and Migration and American Studies Daniel HoSang. We will then open up the discussion to reflect together on how we can be ready for teaching in the next 10 years. A reception with light refreshments will follow the event.
The Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning and the Teaching Develop and Initiatives team are committed to hosting inclusive and accessible events that allow all participants to fully engage. Please contact us (askpoorvucenter@yale.edu) if there are ways we can support accommodations, any dietary requests, or for questions about inclusion.
