Professor Alicia Carrasco Parra, MPH, is a midwife and Assistant Professor at the University of Chile with experience in teaching, research, and public health. She specializes in family planning, and sexual and reproductive health. Her academic and professional work focuses on gender equity and strengthening primary health care systems from a rights-based perspective. Profess or Carrasco Parra is a consultant for United Nations Population Fund – Latin America and Caribbean Region Office (UNFPA-LACRO), which focuses on sexual and reproductive health. She also conducts research with Red Latinoamericana de Investigatión en Partería Profesional Salud Sexual y Salud Reproductiva (REDLIPP), a network of faculty members from midwifery schools in Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Peru, and Uruguay. Through this network, she is currently leading a research project on reproductive autonomy in these countries.
