Four Part Workshop Series: Is this your first time teaching a class or section in the social sciences? Are you looking for a community to support you as you adapt your teaching for remote learning? This workshop is designed to help new and returning instructors in the social sciences build confidence in the classroom, develop concrete pedagogical and critical reflection skills about their teaching practice, and share strategies for equitable and efficient teaching in the social sciences. In our first session, we will discuss strategies for the first day of section, as well as the basics of teaching planning and design. Later sessions will focus on creating supportive and equitable classroom environments, fostering student engagement and active learning, and soliciting and giving feedback and assessment. Throughout, we'll make time and space to workshop and troubleshoot participants' own experiences in the (digital) classroom.Participation in three of four sessions is a requirement for the Certificate in College Teaching Preparation. For more information, contact christopher.forney@yale.edu or joy.wang@yale.edu. Workshops take place on 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, and 10/7. Register for the series via the 9/16 event.
