Four Part Workshop Series: These workshops are designed to help new and returning instructors build confidence in the classroom, develop a wide range of concrete tools for leading an engaging and effective discussion section, and address challenges specific to teaching in history and political sciences. The first session will include tips for the first day of class, how to plan a section and set goals and expectations. Later meetings will introduce you to teaching strategies that consider diverse backgrounds and preferences of students, best practices for creating an equitable and transparent environment, theories of how people learn, and how to grade effectively and efficiently. In this series, we will also discuss tips and strategies on how to teach remotely. Finally, each week you will also have the opportunity to explore specific issues that have unfolded in your current or past sections. Participating in at least three of the four sessions is required for the Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP). For more information, contact ievgeniia.sakal@yale.edu or monique.ulysses@yale.edu. Workshops take place on 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, and 10/8. Register for the series via the 9/17 event.
