Although much of modern pedagogical theory promotes non-traditional methods of presenting material, lecturing remains a widespread and useful mode of teaching. In this ATW, we consider situations in which lecturing can be appropriate and workshop strategies for developing presence in the classroom. We will also cover active learning strategies and ways to make both online and in-person lectures more accessible. This workshop, while taught by different facilitators, will cover the same material as the Preparing and Delivering An Effective Lecture workshop on February 22nd. Rather than attending both, you should select one. For more information, contact valeriia.mutc@yale.edu and mac.crite@yale.edu.
