Do you have trouble deciding how to grade students on their participation? Do you want to learn strategies for equitable participation and grading? This workshop will explore concrete strategies to fairly evaluate class participation at all moments of the course – defining participation for your students early on, keeping track of participation over the course of the semester, and determining final grades. We will also examine the role that biases can play in assessing participation. Participants will come away from this workshop with concrete tools and ideas to improve the fairness and suitability of their participation grades. For more information, contact christopher.forney@yale.edu)and mac.crite@yale.edu. This ATW counts toward the Poorvu Center's Certificate of College Teaching Preparation (CCTP) requirement for a "topic engaging inclusivity or diversity."
