As the semester winds down, we know there’s a lot to keep track of—whether it’s preparing for finals or planning for the breaks ahead. In this newsletter, you’ll find a helpful compilation of important updates, upcoming events, and opportunities to help you make the most of the next few weeks. From stress-relief activities to job-hunting tips, we’re here to support you as you wrap up another fruitful semester.
You're Always Welcome At The Good Life Center
If you’re looking for a quiet place to study, relax, and recharge, remember that you are always welcome at the Good Life Center at SAS. Our space has comfy seating, seltzers, snacks, coffee and tea, games, puzzles, and a place to just be! During evenings and weekends, you can also access other parts of our building for quiet study.
Special Hours:
Over Thanksgiving recess, we will be closed.
We will be open during the finals period. We'll have extra Saturday hours on December 7 and 14, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Yale College Final Exams Reminder
Yale College final exams will take place from December 12 through December 18. The deadline to submit test room booking requests for all Yale College final exams taken at SAS is December 6. Finals must be scheduled during the official time block assigned for the course, except for 7:00 p.m. exams, which must be scheduled at 5:00 p.m. if taken with the SAS Exam Office.
Start talking to your instructor, teaching fellow, or department assistant now to see if they are coordinating your accommodations for your final exam. If they are not, you’ll need to submit your request to SAS before the December 6 deadline. Late requests will not be guaranteed. Email sasexams@yale.edu with any questions.
Mental Health Survey Opportunity
For her senior thesis, Melissa Shang, a Psychology major at Harvard College, is conducting a study to explore the impact of stigma and discrimination on mental health and suicide risk among people with disabilities and chronic conditions.
If you are 18 years of age or older, you may quality to participate in the survey. Click here to see if you qualify.
Kappy Fahey
Accommodation Specialist
Kappy shares: “It is a pleasure to be working part-time as an Accommodation Specialist with Student Accessibility Services. I have worked in accessibility services in higher education for over 25 years. I was the Director of Student Disability Services at Cornell for 12 years, and I retired as Deputy Director from the University of Chicago in 2022. Since then, I have worked as a supporting accommodation specialist for various universities. This unique position has offered me the wonderful opportunity to continue to meet and work with students on the important endeavor of disability access. Jon McGough
Coordinator
Jon writes: “I am a consultant based in Washington State, working with Student Accessibility Services this year to coordinate accommodations for students enrolled in Yale Law School and Yale Divinity School, as well as graduate student employees. I have over 15 years of experience coordinating ADA accommodations in higher education and private business. I served on the Board of the Coalition for Disability Access in Health Science and Medical Education and am a past President of the Washington Association on Postsecondary Education and Disability. I am an advocate for improving opportunities for disabled clinicians in training and have contributed to two chapters in The Guide to Assisting Students With Disabilities: Equal Access in Health Science and Professional Education. When I'm not working, you'll find me hiking with my family in the Pacific Northwest or attending my kiddo’s musical theatre performances. Forage’s Virtual Experiences are great resume builders! They're one way to gain some remote experience and learn about a new industry. No applications are necessary; everyone can participate. Typically, Forage's virtual experiences are 5 to 8 hours long.

Seated Yoga

Join Ricky from YC3 for a guided seated yoga exercise that can help relieve physical and emotional tension, stretch and lengthen the spine, and promote a healthy body and mind. We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing for greater ease with the seated motions. An ASL interpreter will be present. The activity will last about 30 minutes, and tea will be provided afterward! We'll meet in the Good Life Center.
DIY Aromatherapy Dough

Take a break from finals and join us for a fun, hands-on DIY Aromatherapy Dough Workshop! Aromatherapy dough is a relaxing, stress-relieving tool to squish, stretch, and mold! This event is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
