2020 is a big election year! Want to be prepared to vote in the upcoming elections? Join the McDougal GSL Public Service Fellows for an information session regarding all things voting. We will be joined by Shannel Evans, a Democratic Registrar from the New Haven Registrar of Voters to help field your questions. Topics will include registering to vote in CT or your home state, absentee voting, vote-by-mail, and where to find unbiased information about elections and issues being voted on this year.
If you're also looking for some friendly competition, look no further! We will be hosting a Yale GSAS vs. Harvard GSAS voter registration drive, in conjunction with this event. Be sure to sign the pledge to vote at the event so we can take home the honor!

Join your Arts and Culture McDougal fellows for a night of trivia! This semester your McDougal Fellows will be holding a monthly trivia night, where graduate students can come with a team (of 4) or be placed on a team and enjoy a night of friendly competition. Each month our first place team will win a prize (a Yale T-shirt from Campus Customs). In December the top 3 teams from the monthly trivia will compete in a final trivia night for the chance to win THE GRAND PRIZE! So come with your friends (or come and make new friends), answer questions, win prizes, and have a good time!
Have you been thinking of indulging in some much-needed movement and relaxation? Here is a chance for you to energize yourself with the ancient practice of Tai Chi, also referred to as moving meditation. Join us on Wednesday, September 23rd from 6-7 pm for a virtual Tai Chi class with Shirley Chock. Ask your friends to join in too or make new friends virtually!!

The trails at West Campus make for a perfect way to take a socially distanced break from lab work. The trails run the length of the campus along the Oyster River. Walking from the Conference Center to the West Campus Barn through the nursing buildings is about 1.5 miles. Get outdoors and enjoy the wildlife and nature West Campus has to offer.
Sam's WISAY Grad Mentoring Tip of the Week -
Applications to take part in the Women in Science at Yale (WISAY) Mentoring Program for the 2020-2021 school year are now available !Apply to be a mentor and/or mentee for WISAY's Mentoring Program here by Wednesday, September 23rd! As in past years, we will have mentoring on two levels: graduate students mentoring undergrads and post-docs mentoring graduate students. Graduate students are free to sign up for both programs. WISAY will provide some structured events, including a mandatory mentoring workshop in late October. Jo's Art Film Tip of the Week -
Become a member of the Yale Center for British Art's group on YaleConnect! New members of the Center's group will then receive messages that include links to three films about acclaimed British Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare, best known for explorations of the legacies of colonialism through sculpture, installations, film, and photography. His work was the subject of 2016 exhibition at the Center and the artist's CBE's studio has graciously allowed YCBA to package three of his films to be viewed exclusively by Yale undergraduate and graduate students through September 30, 2020.
