  • Wilbur L. Cross (Ph.D. 1889 English) -  Literary critic, editor, Graduate School Dean and University Provost, Governor of Connecticut, 1931-39

  • Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (Ph.D. 1934 Mathematics) – computer pioneer, naval officer, and developer of modern computer languages
