Emily and Sarwar's Sports and Rec Tip of the Week - Graduate and Professional Intramurals are back! Registration for Cornhole, Pickleball, Table Tennis and H.O.R.S.E is open now through February 17th. Visit here to register. Grad-Pro Intramurals are open to enrolled, in-residence (LL1 & LL3) graduate and professional students only. Faculty, staff, alumni and spouses are not eligible. Games start Saturday, February 20th. Billy and Nakeirah’s Social Tip of the Week - Snow is fun! Want to go sledding but do not have a sled! No problem! You can DIY sleds using plastic storage container lids, Amazon cardboards wrapped in plastic trash bags, or a swimming tube. One great location for sledding is the slopes behind Divinity School. Have fun on the slopes and be safe!
Jing and Saiti's International Tip of the Week - Lunar New Year is around the corner! Still wondering how to celebrate it under the shadow of pandemic? Yale-China has planned a series of wonderful events from Feb 12 to Feb 26, including demonstrations of Chines calligraphy and painting, and performance of martial arts. Sam's Black History Month Tip of the Week - February is Black History Month! The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Sevice, Smithsonian Institution, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum have compiled many resources and pieces that pay tribute to generations of African Americans who faced adversity and struggled to achieve full citizenship in American society. The Run for Refugees raises money to support Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services, a New Haven-based non-profit that helps new members of our community adapt to life in the United States. This year's Run for Refugees is a virtual event. Register for the race with IRIS ($35), run it safely in the location of your choice, and compete to win a Yale t-shirt!
All students who will be accessing and/or living on campus in Spring 2021 term must do the required Gateway Testing, Compact Signing, Covid Safety Training, Flu shot (or waiver) and Daily Health Checks. Due by Feb.9 or ID may be deactivated (due date pushed back 2 days due to snow storm issues accessing testing and shots).
Lunar New Year is almost there! Do you want to get your own lunar new year lucky bag? Do you want to make some traditional Chinese paper craft for the new year? Are you curious about what your Chinese zodiac is and its underlying meaning? Come to celebrate lunar new year with other Yale students. We have prepared everything you need for this event, including red crafting paper and lucky bag with lunar new year snacks and decorations. You just need to pick them up at McDougal Center on Feb 5 and join us on Zoom on Feb 9.
We wanted to call this "you’ve been sitting at your desk all day, and this is what you should do so you don’t permanently damage your body" but it was a little long. Join yoga instructor and mobility expert Jeremy Bennett for a weekly class to keep us all moving. The exercises demonstrated may be a little different each week but you can join at any time. Are you looking to learn a new craft in time for Valentines day? Well look no further, join your McDougal Fellows for a night of Quilling (or paper filigree). Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted, and otherwise manipulated to create shapes that makeup designs which you can uses to decorate. We will gather the step-by-step instructions and provide most of the materials you will need. So Join us as we learn the basics by creating hearts which you can place on a card or frame!
The university is strongly discouraging unnecessary travel for students, faculty and staff for the duration of this public health crisis. Enrolled in residence students (those who are authorized to be on campus) are required to obtain permission from their school’s Health and Safety Leader to travel outside the Greater New Haven Area for more than 24 hours. If you must travel outside of CT in Spring 2021, as a GSAS Student you are required to submit a Travel Form to GSAS HSL IN ADVANCE of any proposed travel. Upon return, you must do required 10 day quarantine or 2 negative tests (Day 1 and day 5) before returning to any on-campus activities or access. *If you are regularly commuting to campus from outside Greater New Haven, please email GSAS HSLs at gsas.safetyteam@yale.edu to notify us one time about your commuting plans.

Join your West Campus fellows and friends at the Peabody virtually along the West Campus nature trail where we will identify and learn about plants! This event will be recorded.
Twelve finalists will be selected to move onto the championship round and will be announced on Friday, March 12th via email.
All finalists will then have the opportunity to modify, re-record and submit their presentations (modifications based on feedback from the preliminary round will be welcome and expected). These revised presentations will be due by Thursday, April 1st at 12noon ET.
The winners of the 2021 3-Minute Thesis Competition will be revealed during an awards ceremony over Zoom on Thursday, April 22nd at 5pm ET.
