Hello international graduate students! Some of you are on campus, while others are studying from abroad. Where ever you are, you may have a bunch of questions on how to navigate these unprecedented times, especially as an international student at Yale. OISS and McDougal GSL have an event just for you, in two parts.
(1) A great panel of speakers including staff and senior students who can answer questions related to visas, online learning, coping mechanisms and grad life hacks. Drop in for the whole time, either part, or come when you can! We'll be happy to meet you!
(2) Part 2 is a very informal international grad student Meet n' Greet online hosted by McDougal International GSL Fellows Jing Ping and Saiti Halder - they will have some time for us to get to know other students, and to share upcoming GSL events, address any concerns you may have, and hear about any cool event ideas you may have that we can try to make happen this year with you.
Ask a nutritionist! Yale's Registered Dietitian Rebecca Purcell will be on hand to give a brief presentation on how to eat well during quarantine & pandemic life. There will be a Q&A session afterward.
Gather with other GSAS students spouses/partners and or with kids or expecting kids via Zoom to explore all that New Haven has to offer for families. Get advice on what to do and where to go with a kid of any age in New Haven during our current times. We'll have a panel of past and present McDougal Family Fellows to answer any specific questions about Yale policies, and definitely welcome answers and advice from all participants. Schedule for event: 10-10:30am Orientation for incoming students. 10:30-11:15 Coffee Hour for all grad student families.
Stressed out? Trouble sleeping? Want more compassion for yourself and others? Try Koru Mindfulness, a four-week course designed to teach students the basics of mindfulness and meditation. These skills can help you manage daily stress and bring more ease into your life. The course is offered for matriculating students only.
