2020 3-Minute Thesis Competition: Award Ceremony

Tuesday, December 8
12:30pm - 1:30pm
Video Conferencing Link
Add to Google Cal,Outlook,Yahoo,iCal

Yale's annual 3-Minute Thesis Competition is an opportunity for Yale PhD students to celebrate their hard work, ingenuity, and research through friendly competition and professional development.  Each participant is tasked with presenting their research within 3 minutes, using a single PowerPoint slide, to a lay audience.  After an initial round of competition, our finalists customarily compete in a live event, where the winners are ultimately determined.

Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, this year's finals (initially scheduled for April) had to be put on hold.  Over the past several weeks, our finalists have adapted their presentations to the virtual landscape, recording video submissions of their talks for review by our panel of judges.  After months of hard work, the winner of this year's 3-Minute Thesis Competition will finally be revealed!

Dean Cooley will be on hand to announce this year's winners.  Join us as we celebrate this year's finalists and their hard work!

Starting Monday, November 30th, we will be releasing our finalists' videos via the Office of Career Strategy YouTube page! View them at https://bit.ly/OCSYouTube. You can also participate in our audience selected voting for 'Best in Humanities/Social Sciences' and 'Best in STEM' at https://bit.ly/Yale3MTvoting.

This event will be held via Zoom. Register to attend at https://bit.ly/Yale3MTAwards

Did you know that Dr. Seuss grew up fairly close to Yale, in a family of professional bakers? And did you know that history has preserved his family's recipe for homemade soft pretzels? And that they're a tasty, easy, and kid or couple friendly culinary experience?

Join the McDougal Family Fellows via Zoom on Thursday, December 10, from 5:15-6:15 for a fun hour of dough-making, dough-baking, and story-time as we make pretzels. For grad students and families living on campus, we'll provide the flour, yeast, and sugar you'll need via socially distanced pick-up at the McDougal Center, but Yale grad student families and couples/spouses/partners are welcome to join from anywhere in the world if they can supply their own ingredients (or if they just want to learn). We'll step you through the steps of pretzel making and provide inspirations for how to make these into a tasty supper that's fun to make, and read a silly Seuss-story while the dough rises. Hope to see you there!
