About Us

One of the hallmarks of Yale College is its renowned musical community. Outstanding instrumental musicians on campus frequently perform together in such well-regarded ensembles as the Yale Symphony Orchestra and the Yale Concert Band. Pianists, however, are required only in small numbers for these groups and may therefore find themselves somewhat isolated in their musical pursuit. Therefore, the Yale Undergraduate Piano Collective exists to promote greater musical and social cohesion among the undergraduate pianists at Yale. In particular, the YUPC organizes "studio classes," wherein pianists to play for each other to receive feedback and encounter fresh perspectives, and public performances, with an emphasis on collaborative repertoire for four, six, and eight hands.
