A voice from the Amazon on climate change and health: Dr. Nair Chase da Silva shares how nursing, education, and the SDGs intersect in one of the planet's most vulnerable ecosystems. Dr. Nair Chase da Silva is a Full Professor of Nursing at Brazil's Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), where she leads the Laboratory for Research in Nursing, Health, and Education in the Amazonian Context. Her teaching and scholarship center on public health, health surveillance, and nursing education within the Amazon region, positioning her at the intersection of environmental health and nursing practice.

Her research focuses on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She has published on integrating the SDGs into nursing education, municipal health planning in Brazil's Northern region, gender equality, and quality education, and she represented UFAM at the First National Conference on the SDGs in Brasília.

Dr. Silva served as President of the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn) Amazonas Section from 2023 to 2025 and previously as Director of the Manaus School of Nursing. She holds a PhD in public health from FIOCRUZ, completed postdoctoral studies at Coimbra Nursing School in Portugal, and received a Doctor Honoris Causa from UFAM.
