Financial Aid for Current Students

U.S. Citizens & Permanent Residents

Students on financial aid are required to reapply for financial aid each spring for the following academic year. All applications and documents for financial aid must be received by the school no later than April 30, 2026.

Please note: that the Financial Office is currently reviewing financial documents for prospective students. Review of current students will begin on May 1, 2026. The status of your submitted documents will not change to “R” (Received) until the review process begins. Once you have submitted the three required items listed below, you can expect to receive your financial aid award letter on June 1, 2026.

  • Required Documentation

    1. FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Code 001426

    2. CSS Profile - The School of Architecture (Graduate School) does not offer a fee waiver for the CSS Profile. Parent information is required on the CSS Profile (YSoA Number 3975).

    3. Required documents - Please upload the following documents using this link.

    1. Student 2024 Federal Tax Return.
    2. Student Bank Account Statement: most recent bank statement.
    3. Parent 2024 Federal Tax Return.
    4. Parent Bank Account Statement:  most recent bank statement.

    *If tax returns were not filed by the parent and/or student, please submit the Non-Tax Filer Form.

  • Tuition Due Dates

    Fall Term: Charges will be posted to the student account by July 1 and due in full by July 31.

    Late Fees: The Office of Student Accounts will impose a late fee of $125 per month (up to a total of $375 per semester) if the term charges, less Yale-administered loans and scholarships that have been applied for on a timely basis, are not paid by the due date. Students can request a late fee waiver.

    Financial Hold: Students who have not paid their student account term charges by the due date will also be placed on Financial Hold. The hold will remain until the term charges have been paid in full. While on Financial Hold, the University will not provide diplomas and reserves the right to withhold registration or withdraw the student for financial reasons.   • Loan Options

    Loan Request Form for academic year 2026-2027 (Official rates for 2026-2027 are not yet available. Federal student loan interest rates are typically set each year on July 1st.)

    Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan - for US citizens and permanent residents- this loan has a yearly maximum of $20,500. Payment may be deferred during enrollment, and interest will be capitalized upon re-payment.

  • Refunds

    Refunds - Refunds of credit balances in student accounts must be requested on Yale Hub. After logging in, select Student Accounts and then Refund Request from Student Account. For more information, please visit Yale Student Account Refunds.

  • Loan Billing & Payment

    The Student Loan Billing and Payment Office is responsible for the management and collection of Federal Perkins Loans, Yale Student Loans, and Health Profession Loans. All payments must be made in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank. For more information please visit Loan Billing and Payment and Payment Options.

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Financial Aid

    Federal regulations require that in order to receive assistance under Title IV of the Higher Education Act, students must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), which is measurable academic progress toward completion of their degree requirements within published time limits.     Society of American Registered Architects New York Council Design Awards Grant Offers a $5,000 award to the top student in their Design Awards program.
