For 30 years, RebLaw has brought together practitioners, students, and activists from around the country to discuss innovative, progressive approaches to social justice. RebLaw has influenced an entire generation of attorneys, civil rights leaders, social justice activists, and educators in service of liberation movements. This year’s conference will include keynotes by Azadeh Shahshahani, the legal and advocacy director at Project South and former president of the National Lawyers Guild, and Michelle Alexander in conversation with Professor Monica Bell. Alexander authored The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, a New York Times bestseller that transformed the national conversation on criminal justice. RebLaw will also bring 15+ visionaries to campus for panels and interactive workshops, including Dee Farmer (the first transgender plaintiff to bring a case before SCOTUS (Farmer v. Brennan) and Executive Director of Fight4Justice), D Dangaran (Director of Gender Justice at Rights Behind Bars), and Anthony Prince (Lead Organizer and General Counsel for the National Union of the Homeless). Lunch and light breakfast will be served, and we will close out the event with a community happy hour. Please note any dietary restrictions or accessibility needs when when registering for the conference, and we will do our best to accommodate them. [We, here, is RebLaw, not YLDems].
