About Us

The Yale Pizza Society (YPS) seeks to explore the history and tradition of pizza within the Yale and New Haven communities. Students in the organization will have a space to share their love of pizza through discussions, presentations, articles, and field trips. Above all, the Yale Pizza Society strives to create a greater sense of appreciation for the one-of-a-kind pizza culture that exists in New Haven. The Yale Pizza Society will host weekly/biweekly meetings to explore the New Haven pizza scene. These meetings can take the form of a presentation on the history of pizza in New Haven, a discussion on what makes a good pizza, a guest speaker with an expertise on New Haven Pizza, or a trip to a pizza restaurant in New Haven. The possibilities are endless as long as the meetings are centered around pizza. The Yale Pizza Society will maintain a presence online through various social media channels and a dedicated website. On these platforms, photos, reviews, infographics, interviews, and videos, all revolving around pizza, will be shared. The culminating project for the Yale Pizza Society will be a ranked list of the top pizza restaurants in New Haven, as determined by the members of the Yale Pizza Society. This ranking will be published once per academic year with the winning restaurant awarded a Yale Pizza Society plaque.
