Mission
As an umbrella organization we seek to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. We believe that there should be maximum cooperation within the campus dance community and that as the dance community grows it is important for us to work with the administration to accommodate their needs of rehearsal and performance space.



The Alliance for Dance at Yale is an umbrella organization which seeks to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. We book rehearsal space at Payne Whitney Gym for all undergraduate dance groups, and we host the Festival of Dance Groups during Opening Days for freshman. The Alliance automatically includes all members of dance groups on campus and is led by a board of directors who are elected by the larger membership each year. This board consists of 5 positions all of which may be held by 1 or 2 people: executive director publicity director treasurer outreach coordinator secretary Additionally a representative from each dance group who wishes to participate in ADAY activities will serve as a direct liason to the board and help in the planning and production of ADAY events. As an umbrella organization we seek to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. We believe that there should be maximum cooperation within the campus dance community and that as the dance community grows it is important for us to work with the administration to accomodate their needs of rehearsal and performance space. There are no membership requirements, though people wishing to hold office within ADAY must be currently enrolled undergraduates. Elections are held yearly in January. Interested candidate submit a candidate statement to the Alliance and are elected by majority vote.

Yale's Asian American Collective of Theatermakers (AACT) aims to provide a centralized and welcoming social space for Asian American theatermakers at Yale that will (1) attract would-be Asian American theatermakers who would otherwise be deterred from doing theater for lack of a clearly defined Asian American theater community; and (2) enable Asian American students interested in making theater to network and collaborate with other Asian American artists.

The Asterisk* Journal of Art and Art History is concerned with providing an outlet for critical discourse around art for undergraduates, whether it be through practice or theory. Based in New Haven at Yale University, Asterisk* is one of the few peer-reviewed, intercollegiate, bi-annually published art and art history journals at the undergraduate level. We are dedicated to highlighting art historical narratives shedding light on topics that are often left to the margins. As part of our selection process, we reach out to over eighty different universities in search of high-quality, subversive essays and artworks that provoke new ways of thinking. We try to publish bi-annually with workshops, meetings and events hosted throughout the semester.

Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale was founded in the fall of 1998 by a group of undergraduate students dedicated to the expression of Mexican culture and traditional folk dance. Since its founding, the group has had the privilege of performing at numerous cultural and educational events at Yale, throughout Connecticut, and elsewhere in the Northeast. As the only Mexican folk dance group on campus, Ballet Folklórico does not hold auditions. Our goals are both diverse and ambitious: while providing an outlet for the exploration of our heritage, we seek to enrich students' cultural knowledge, and serve as a resource for greater Connecticut communities as well.

The Berkeley College Orchestra is dedicated to the promotion of a musical presence on the Yale campus and the greater Connecticut area. To achieve this goal, the BCO provides a place for students to study and practice the performance of music without grades and seeks to foster a community of musicians with similar goals. To this end, BCO holds weekly rehearsals and three free public concerts during the school year and one educational concert for New Haven public school students.

Founded in 2019, Cadence of Yale is Yale's premier competitive a cappella group. A regular participant in the annual International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), the group is dedicated to telling stories through music as well as to collaborating with the global a cappella community. Through original arrangements, choreography, and thoughtful music curation, Cadence seeks to unlock music's communicative power with every performance.

As an SATB group whose ever-changing repertoire spans all musical genres and draws influences from classical music, folk, rock, and pop culture alike, Cadence welcomes singers of all backgrounds and abilities. In a school that focuses so heavily on tradition, Cadence aims to break the mold.

Casa de Bailes is an educational dance community at Yale dedicated to teaching various Latine music genres for social dancing. Our goal is to introduce these styles to non-dancers and those interested in Latine social dancing, offering opportunities they may not have had before. Through our “Dance History Archive" project, we provide resources on Latine music, dance examples, and music history for public learning. As a non-performance group, we emphasize creating inclusive spaces that foster community and welcome everyone. We host beginner-friendly workshops and socials (social dance opportunities), allowing students to learn, practice, and enjoy these dances in a comfortable environment. Our aim is to celebrate Latine culture and build a community characterized by love, trust, and belonging among Yale students of all dance backgrounds and experiences through Latine dance.

The Davenport Pops Orchestra strives to provide the undergraduate community with a venue for student musicianship, specializing in uniquely pops repertoire. The Davenport Pops Orchestra is committed to bringing a different flavor of music to the Yale campus and hopes to reach a larger audience with its performances. Our primary goal is to encourage the diversification of student talent on campus and to provide undergraduates with a broader venue in which they can express themselves musically.

Doox of Yale is an a cappella group founded in 1952 by Basil "Duke" Henning, former head of Saybrook College. The first tenor/bass group at Yale to become all-gender, Doox prides itself on both a rich history of tradition and forward-looking communal and musical values. From Drew Barrymore's birthday party to the Steinway Club of Puerto Rico, Kylemore Abbey to the White House, Doox has sung in venues across the world, entertaining audiences with heartfelt singing and tongue-in-cheek humor.

Mission
The Elm City Echo aims to promote awareness of homelessness and displacement by giving contributors a community-oriented platform to amplify their voices and experiences. The Echo empowers individuals through the process of sharing while centralizing creators' voices. Since 2011, student volunteers have worked with individuals experiencing extreme poverty and homelessness to record and publish the prose, poetry, and artwork. Each collaboration begins with volunteers visiting one of our community partners (Columbus House or Fellowship Place) to facilitate the storytelling process. Once a semester, we publish the pieces in a literary magazine that is freely distributed around New Haven.

The purpose of the Guild of Bookmakers is to make the experience of bookbinding available to everyone on campus, to rekindle interest in bookbinding and the book arts, and to bring together people who share a love of bookbinding.

The purpose of the Guild shall be to maintain a regular ringing schedule of the Yale Memorial Carillon in Harkness Tower during the academic year; to further the musical education of its members by, among other things, meeting regularly as a group to perform for each other and visiting other carillons at least once a year; to teach and train underclassmen in the art of carillon-playing during the annual Heel and to elect new members into the Guild after auditions at the end of Heel; to organize a carillon concert series each summer; to perform at official functions of the University; to maintain and further good relations with carillonneurs at other carillons around the world, the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA), and the national carillon schools in Europe; to maintain and enlarge the library of music sheets and books and literature on campanology; and, to encourage general interest in the bells and the art of carillon-playing at the University and in New Haven.

Harmony Healing is an organization devoted to spreading inspiration and hope through the power of music performance. Our mission is to bring free musical performances, instrument education, and opportunities to perform to underserved neighborhoods across New Haven. We believe music has the unique ability to unite, heal, and uplift individuals and entire communities. Through partnerships with New Haven public schools, healthcare centers, and other local organizations, Harmony Healing aims to make music accessible to all, regardless of age, background, or economic status. Activities include tutoring kids at New Haven public schools, performing at nursing homes/hospitals, and organizing events for club members and New Haven community members to play together..

The purpose of Heritage Theater Ensemble shall be to foster the development of Black theater in the Yale-New Haven community: to provide a forum for the expression of Black (and other minority) talent in all aspects of the performing arts and to generate and promote a collective, artistic consciousness within the organization. Similarly, Heritage Theater Ensemble's promotion of artistic endeavors within New Haven shall be a means of developing and sustaining Black (minority) arts as a means of politicizing art-production within the local community.
