Jo McDougal's Pet and Plant Friends

Did you know that looking at cute animals can help with stress? These are some of Jo McDougal's furry/flora friends, whose humans are McDougal GSL fellows! If you have a cute picture of your pet you want us to share, tag us on Facebook or Instagram, or email us at mcdougalgsl@gmail.com! If you don't have a pet, you can also send us a picture of your plants or stuffed animals! The more, the merrier!

Fellows' Tips of the Week

Alycia and Helen's Arts and Culture Tip of the Week - Check out the cool events and shows hosted by the Yale Cabaret, from virtual festivals to radio plays. Their upcoming show, “Ambient Dreams for Sleep-Deprived Teens,” will be held from Nov 12 – 14 at 8 PM. More information can be found here.

Sarah and Tayah's West Campus TIp of the Week -  Looking for a way to stay active? A lot of virtual races and walks are available in the New Haven and West Haven area. Check out nearby virtual races here.

Adrian and Larissa's Health and Wellness Tip of the Week -  Need someone to talk to? Schedule a meeting with a Chaplain! The Chaplain's Office offers one-on-one meetings with students over Zoom, phone, or text. You need not be religious! All are welcome. Make appointments to talk here.

Liam's YaleConnect Tip of the Week -  For all student group leaders, we've got some new help files uploaded to the "Toolkit & Resources for Graduate Student Organization Leaders" page on YaleConnect. Check out the "feed files" folder (perhaps someday to be replaced with a more exciting name) to find information on licensing your swag, serving alcohol at events, and managing group finances and taxes.

Sam's Free Hot Cocoa Tip of the Week -  With a same-day receipt of $25 or more from the Shops at Yale, you can get a free hot cocoa from Blue State Coffee (276 York St) or Claire's Corner Copia (1000 Chapel St)! See participating retailers and more Shops at Yale deals here!

Jen's Breathing Tip of the Week -  Feeling stressed in this time of uncertainty? Try the 4-7-8 breathing exercise. The 4-7-8 Breath (also known as the Relaxing Breath) is the perfect, portable stress antidote, as it puts the practitioner in a relaxed state almost immediately. It takes almost no time, requires no equipment and can be done anywhere.
