Fellows' Tips of the Week

Sarah and Tayah’s West Campus Tip of the Week - Did you know there is a FINtastic seafood shack only 10 minutes from West Campus? Stowe’s is open year round and is right across from the beach. There is something for everyone with menu options ranging from lobster rolls to grilled cheese. Take a trip to Stowe’s for your next lunch break! (bring cash!)

Connor & Jen and Taryn & Johnny's Spouse and Family Tip of the Week - With warmer weather and the spring season starting to (slowly) unfold, consider really exploring East Rock Park while the roads are still closed to car traffic! From out-of-use leaf strewn carraige roads to trails up smaller hills to the Pardee Rose Garden, the park has far more to offer then the road to the summit. Check out the park's website for all the trails and offerings just minutes from campus!

Adrian and Larissa’s Health and Wellness Tip of the Week - Are your eyes sore from the strain of Zoom classes? Take a look at these tips to relieve eye strain fast!

Caitlin and Cecilia's Public Service Tip of the Week - Many Texans are struggling with food and water shortages in the aftermath of the recent winter weather. Donate to Feeding Texas to help Texans access the food and water they need to survive.

Sam's Students Promoting Health Advocacy and Synchronized Engagement with Communities for Crisis Response Tip of the Week - Join the team of 120+ multidisciplinary Yale students, faculty, and staff in a very important effort to brainstorm, develop, and disseminate COVID-19 vaccination messaging for priority populations in Connecticut and Nationwide with the mission of aiding in the equitable access of vaccines and information related to COVID-19. When working remotely, you'll likely notice some unique challenges arise that aren't necessarily roadblocks you'd experience in a shared office.

Additionally, as a career-minded professional, you might also have fears related to being isolated or unseen. For example, you might ask yourself, "Am I missing something important?", "Do people actually think I'm working?", or "Is it even possible to move up the ladder in a remote position?"

If you're worried about your visibility, you're not alone. Join the Office for Graduate Student Development & Diversity [OGSDD] on Tuesday March, 9th at 12pm EST for our remote work visibility talk with Leah Ryder, the Brand & Enterprise Marketing Sr. Team Lead for Trello, a visual work management and productivity app powered by Atlassian.

Through this presentation learn how to:
1. Build your professional visibility and grow your career in remote organizations
2. Advocate for a positive, inclusive working environment from anywhere
3. Use digital tools to build an open concept virtual office
